Mons. Giuseppe Cognata: "A light that has never gone out"
"A light never extinguished": this is the motto with which the city communities of Pellaro and Bova, with the entire ecclesial community of Reggio Calabria, wanted to remember the Servant of God Mons. Giuseppe Cognata , SDB, former Bishop of Bova from 1933 to 1940 and founder of the Congregation of the Salesian Oblate Sisters of the Sacred Heart, of which Pope Francis gave his consent last February for the opening of the Cause of Beatification and Canonization.

On the morning of Sunday 27 September 2020, the
Servant of God Mons Giuseppe Cognata. The Rev. by Mother Graziella Maria Benghini, the Postulator Fr Pierluigi Cameroni SdB. The assembly went in procession to Piazza Ferrovieri d'Italia for the celebration of the Eucharist presided over by the Archbishop.

At the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Rome, during the celebration of the first vespers of the Sunday of Mercy 18 April 2020, the Rector Major Fr Ángel Fernández Artime gave official communication to the Salesian Family of the opening of the cause of Beatification of the Servant of God Mons Giuseppe Cognata.
General Chapter XI of the Salesian Oblates of the Sacred Heart has opened
Tivoli, Italy - July 2019 - On July 6, Msgr. Mauro Parmeggiani, bishop of Tivoli-Palestrina, presided over the opening Eucharistic celebration of General Chapter XI of the Salesian Oblates of the Sacred Heart on the theme "With Mary, true oblate, chosen to be holy and immaculate ... sent to the world to be a prophecy of joy , hope, charity ". The works will continue until July 28 and constitute a precious time of sincere and joyful research of what the Spirit asks today of the Salesian Oblates of the Sacred Heart to respond with creative fidelity to the mission of making today's men know the love and salvation of Jesus.
